These adorable creatures are experts at conserving energy, spending up to 20 hours a day sleeping in eucalyptus trees. The remaining hours are spent munching on eucalyptus leaves, which are low in nutrients but packed with moisture, so they rarely need to drink water. Fun fact: “Koala” comes from an Indigenous word meaning “no water”!
